Gold Dime is an unapologetic art rock project conceived and led by multi-instrumentalist Andrya Ambro. Her songs are not for the faint of heart.
Before Gold Dime, Ambro was one half of the critically-acclaimed avant garde rock act Talk Normal. Her debut as Gold Dime came in 2017 with the release of the “fascinating” ‘Nerves.’ 2019’s ‘My House’ was electric. Her third album, ‘No More Blue Skies’ - released in 2023 - is a galvanizing record of bleak noir textures. Wire Magazine dubbed the record as "one of the most vibrant, purposeful rock records of the year."
With a background in percussion, Ambro’s inclinations as a drummer foreground most Gold Dime songs. Her voice - sometimes spoken like Laurie Anderson, sometimes sung in the provocative spirit of Diamanda Galas - acts as her fifth limb; both informing and interacting with the drums. Live, Gold Dime is a rotating ensemble, featuring Ambro’s talented friends in the New York music scene for nearly two decades.
