Formed out of the ashes of The Boy Wonder Jinx, this trio from Raleigh began recording songs in 2001 for its debut release. Singer and songwriter Scott Phillips took part of his own childhood and incorporated them into the band's songwriting process, recording in his basement on a 4-track. In 2002, Goner released its debut album Dollar Movie on Eskimo Kiss Records. The group has toured throughout the Eastern United States and has been compared to Matthew Sweet, Squeeze and The DBs among others.
