Andrei Gorkovoi's music career began in St. Petersburg, Russia, when he joined an alternative/abstract hip-hop band <a href="spotify:artist:1QFaonDLutzGl8ve3RNPt1" data-name="инженер Лось">инженер Лось</a>. In 2015 he moved to Chicago, Illinois and started making music and performing under the name Gorkovoy. His solo project is mostly associated with dark electronic sound that Gorkovoy combines with simplistic, bitterly ironic lyrics.
In 2019 Gorkovoy collaborated with a videographer, film director and musician Ella Baiysbayeva. They produced a music video, based on Gorkovoy's song from his first self-released record <a href="spotify:album:1qY4VFiQJG5ZzuhZvzJFPO" data-name="Molchat / Buy a House">Molchat / Buy a House</a>. The video received two awards (Best Music Video, Best Experimental Film) at Two Roads International Film Festival (Brooklyn, New York).
