Although Grace Cooper has been writing her own songs since the age of 13, her true introduction to the music scene began after joining Central Oregon-based band Wayward Soul as a lead vocalist at 15. The band went on to perform on several stages across the state of Oregon, and released a self-titled album along the way in 2017.
In 2018, Wayward Soul started to fizzle, but three of the original members -- including Grace Cooper -- still play together to this day. After Cooper left Oregon to attend Gonzaga University, she became recognized as a soloist and began playing her own shows for both private and public events.
In the summer of 2019, Cooper began recording her debut EP, Three Years Wiser. The songs from this EP attempt to capture the emotions of adolescence, as each of the songs was written when Cooper was just 17. Only a few months into the project, her friend and sound engineer, Matt Engle, passed away suddenly, and the project was shelved. The files that Engle and Cooper created together were left untouched until 2022. The EP was brought back to life in another Central Oregon-based studio, and is now available to the public!
Cooper titled her EP "Three Years Wiser" to remember her friend Matt Engle and to honor the time and dedication required to deliver these songs to you. Cooper has written extensively since she began recording this EP, and is excited to share her newest work in upcoming projects.
