Graham Van Pelt

Graham Van Pelt joined the Montreal music community in 2004, hosting shows at his loft venues The Electric Tractor and Friendship Cove. By 2007 his project Miracle Fortress had released the LP 'Five Roses', a Polaris Prize-shortlisted and acclaimed collection of summery psychedelia. Tours across Europe and North America and parts of Asia followed. During this period his party-pop band Think About Life also went on regular international tours, released two full length records, and became a somewhat legendary live act.

Through the 2010s he moonlighted as a club DJ and producer. In 2018 he released the electro-house influenced 'Time Travel' LP with label Arbutus Records, his debut under his given name. Relocating to BC during the pandemic, he released the dance 12" Sense Appeal via UK label No Bad Days in 2020, followed by ambient records 'Salt Spring: Sun and Shadow' (Arbutus 2021), 'Under the Heat Dome'(Crescent Club 2022), and 'Atlantis Tapes'(Crescent Club 2023). Van Pelt's main genres in recent times are ambient music and dub-inflected vocal house music.

He hosts the weekly online radio show 'Island City' on FSR.live, with a broad focus including jazz, R&B, Latin, disco, dub and African music.

Van Pelt has released music with Arbutus, Alien8 and Secret City Records in North America; Rough Trade and No Bad Days in Europe; and Escalator Records in Japan.

His latest collection of ambient music, 'The Lookout', arrives July 20th 2023.
