Grand Baxter

From the forests of eastern Melbourne come Grand Baxter, an alt-folk trio combining earnest songwriting, dense textures of guitar and strings, and a humble folk charm. Inspired by Jason Isbell, John Moreland and Gillian Welch, Grand Baxter exists at the intersection of rock, folk and country.

Having performed together in various projects for many years, and each accomplished in their own right, singer-songwriter Benjamin Langdon, violin/mandolin player Dylan Knur and electric guitarist Jack Wieseler have a chemistry and charisma that gives Grand Baxter a sound greater than the sum of its three parts.

Their debut EP Gotta Get on the Road saw Langdon’s songwriting explore his long-held love of country music. The self-recorded project set him off on a string of solo shows around Australia. In 2021 Grand Baxter returned to release ‘Family of Liars,’ with more singles trickling out between 2022 and 2024. The collection was finally completed alongside long term collaborator and producer Dylan Knur, ready for release in 2025.

Silverline is a collection of seven songs searching for hope and love in a harsh and unpredictable world, ranging from bounding indie-folk to delicate acoustic tracks, all written by singer-songwriter Benjamin Langdon in the tumultuous years between 2019 and 2022. These songs read like a journal of the songwriter’s state of mind during that time, touching on themes of difficult family dynamics, loneliness, and the search for love in all its forms.
