"Dream pop should sound this way: beautiful, assured, intriguing and resonant" - Louder Than War
“Might just be the breath of non judgemental, delightful, inspirational fresh air the world needs!” - For The Rabbits
“Twists the conventional instrumentation and infuses it with innovative performance techniques, cinematic sensibilities and aspects of electronic production” - Echoes and Dust
Derby-based dreampop band Grawl!x are poised to release EP Spring in, well, spring 2022 via Reckless Yes records. Their first new music since 2020 multi-instrumentalist, filmmaker, and songwriter Maria Michael Machin is joined in an expanded line up by Jo Lewis (Umbilica), Shelley Jane Newman (GodNo!, Sex Jokes) and Rich Collins and Robin Newman.
The release follows on from 2012’s ‘Good Grief’, 2014’s ‘Aye!’, 2018’s ‘Appendix’, and 2020’s ‘PEEPS’. Lush soundscapes provide the setting for explorations of grief and loss, platonic love, and identity all together building a catalogue of astonishing musicality, lyrical vulnerability, and arrestingly ethereal electro-dreampop.
Grawl!x has played with bands including Haiku Salut, and Richard.J.Birkin and puts in mesmerising and emotional live performances. However they are played, live or on record they are never short of astounding.
