Great White North is an alternative-country rock band from the Okanagan. Formed in 2012 as a solo project of Michael Szalay, the sound was rooted in folk, country and blues music. As the community of supporting musicians rotated, the lineup would eventually settle on a permanent ensemble of Sid Ruhland (bass guitar), Polo Veintimilla (guitar), Sean Petersen (Drums) and Michael Szalay (vocals and guitar). As the lineup was solidified, the band’s sound has morphed into an eclectic mix of country, folk, blues and mostly just good old rock’n’roll.
