Green Light Silhouette started in 2012 by Neal Mckenzie after his previous band Wonkaface ended. After some jam sessions, a show, and a lineup change the band was set. With Neal on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Nick Yanez on lead guitar, Joel Heun on Drums and Ryan Macauley on Bass and vocals they released their first album The Mind Suggests Less Knowing.
After that release GLS went through another lineup change. They were able to bring in drummer Josh Tellez, and after writing a couple new tracks together they found their new lead guitarist in Estevan Hernandez who brought in another level of technicality to improve the overall sound. With the new lineup, GLS wrote an entire album's worth of material over the next year. The new album entitled These Waves was released in January of 2020 and ended up being a much more emotional record than the first.
Shortly after the release of These Waves, Estevan mysteriously vanished. It's still a mystery as to his whereabouts... But Joel Heun came back and moved from drums to lead guitar. Now basically a super-group of old lineups, they are ready to dominate.
As a band GLS draws heavily on their influences from bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Nothing, Pixies, The Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Failure, Thursday, Superdrag, Ozma , Smoking Popes and many others. A mix of Rock, Alternative, and Shoegaze is prevalent in GLS's sound.
