Founded in 2000, Green Sun Club was an underground reggae project that consisted of the singer <a href="spotify:artist:1dhzFm0kDBSLq7OUllBPfe" data-name="Kipišas">Kipišas</a> (also known as a member of the popular Lithuanian band <a href="spotify:artist:5VQlzhMjyQY4CaQ1E8tEeH" data-name="Kastaneda">Kastaneda</a>) and two musicians, Viva and Papa. Initially, they recorded a cassette called „Руки Товарища Че“ which featured only five songs. It was shared only among the friends and their friends, but somehow this unofficial release received a positive review in the influential local magazine „Ore“. Later on, with the help of Boris Iskakov from the band Планета Пальм, Green Sun Club recorded another set of their songs. Lithuanian reggae project constantly build a bigger following and recognition not only in the homeland, but also abroad. According to Papa, alternative music fans were asking and talking about their recordings even in the famous Moscow's marketplace „Горбушка“.
In 2005, Lithuanian label „Melodija“ signed Green Sun Club and released their debut album „Небо Ямайки“ which was mixed by reknowned Lithuanian producer Algirdas Drėma. Especially for this release, Green Sun Club recorded a new version of the song „Остров“ which was a radio single from this album (along with the tracks „Марокко“ and „Небо Ямайки“).
