Greg McCandless

Greg McCandless is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer based in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. His original music has been featured on broadcast television throughout the world (CBS, NFL Network, ESPNU, Discovery+) and represents several genres, including metal, alt rock, indie rock, hip-hop, and even bluegrass. Dr. McCandless is also an Associate Professor of Music Theory at Appalachian State University, and he holds degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill (BM) and Florida State University (MM, PhD). Greg's primary instrument is bass, though he also performs on guitar, drums, keys, and trombone. His music is published by Droid Mafia, RRHOT, and Unified Sounds, while his textbook "The Craft of Contemporary Commercial Music" (co-authored with Daniel McIntyre) is published by Routledge.
