Grete Schabe is a name inspired by Kafka's Metamorphosis, Grete being the name of the protagonist's sister and schabe meaning cockroach (one of the insects used to represent the transformed main character) in German.
The project itself is an exploration, a constantly learning entity. A myriad of influences inform its sound, all relating to Gothic music in some way or another, and lyricism taken from existentialism and psychology, trying to raise questions about human nature but without fear of getting into more esoteric or metaphoric realms.
In the end, it's all an aesthetic choice.
