Emerging into the thriving Sydney hardcore scene back in 2016, Grim Indiana made an impact in the local and regional heavy music community with their moody debut 'Rest Easy''. The EP secured radio play on Triple J's Short Fast Loud and Lunch slots with the lead single 'Youth On Repeat' and it's accompanying music video being picked up by international emo promoter Dreambound and broadcast to its near half a million followers on YouTube.
Riding on the back of this momentum after an exciting east coast run of shows the band took on their most ambitious project yet, a concept album of genre bending punk music called The Gutter Confessional.
Produced by Clayton Segelov at The Brain Studios (Shady Nasty), it's a project that almost never made it to the ears of listeners.
After a series of communication breakdowns in 2020 and the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic the original master files went missing and the band embarked on an on and off again 4 year mission to find them. Now set to be released in late 2025 the project will wake the band from it's near 5 year hiatus in a blazing road tale of chrome, denim and grit.
Inspired in part by vocalist Summer Saint Francis Smith's experiences running a car-badging ring in Sydney suburbia , the project trades in the bands classic broodiness for white hot rock n' roll riffage, 90's vinyl chops by Sydney hip hop alumni DJ A.S.K (2x Australian DMC Champion) and infectiously camp singalongs on the projects lead single SUPERBRIGHT!
