Grim Republic formed in Cuyahoga Falls, OH in the cold winter of 2014 after high school bandmates Chris Stewart (Vocals/Guitar), Kyle Spreitzer (Guitar), and Kirk Baglia (Drums) reconnected during a college break. The trio’s passion for music had long been neglected, thus they began with the simple goal of performing on a serious level and creating original music. The band’s first EP was released in the Summer of 2016. The band's second EP, "Revelations of a Twenty-Something," was released in the Spring of 2019, providing elements of hard rock and pop punk to the band's evolving sound. Logan Stockton (Bass), a former student of the same high school, joined the band in 2020 and has contributed to the writing process for the band's first and upcoming full-length LP/album, coming in 2022.
The band’s sound, unique in its own right, is a modern twist on early 2000’s pop punk, combined with elements of heavy rock - drawing inspiration from heavier acts like Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, and TOOL.
Grim Republic has performed throughout Northeast Ohio, including venues such as Progressive Field (CLE Indians), The Tangier, The Outpost, Musica, the Empire Concert Club, and Kent State University's Blastoff festival. The band now has its sights set on expanding to venues in surrounding states. Grim Republic wishes to create music that will impact others in the same way as the songs of their youth inspired them.
