Groundislava, aka Jasper Patterson, is an electronic musician from Los Angeles. Growing up immersed in video games, horror movies, and science fiction, Patterson developed a plethora of musical and cultural influences. Gaming memories of his childhood played heavily into his early music, where he often used old Casio keyboards and 8-bit synth sounds. Over the following decade, his work would come to embody the full range of his childhood inspirations, using a variety of vintage synthesizers and drum machines to evoke immersive soundscapes, and share melodic tales.
Alongside his own work, he teamed up alongside his childhood friends <a href="spotify:artist:6y80I9YZi4DOpbaSUlL725" data-name="Shlohmo">Shlohmo</a> and Nick Melons to form the WEDIDIT crew. He also made a name for himself producing remixes for the artists like <a href="spotify:artist:5Pb27ujIyYb33zBqVysBkj" data-name="RÜFÜS DU SOL">RÜFÜS DU SOL</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3CjlHNtplJyTf9npxaPl5w" data-name="CHVRCHES">CHVRCHES</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7lGyDgJJYSgOd9R5T4Cwe4" data-name="Slugabed">Slugabed</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6y80I9YZi4DOpbaSUlL725" data-name="Shlohmo">Shlohmo</a>, as well as contributing original music to Adult Swim’s “Off the Air”, and the award-winning soundtrack for video game, Streets of Rage 4.
