“Self Inflicted” is the debut EP released by Rochester, NY hardcore band Grudge. The band has definitely built up anticipation for this release pretty quickly, releasing two singles in the past week in support of the album dropping April 3rd, 2020. Featuring members of Rochester alumni bands such as Refuge, With Daggers, and Boulders, the band has come together with mutual influences of bands such as Norma Jean, Stray From the Path, and more to release this fast paced, full swing punch of a record out.
Throughout “Self Inflicted“, you get a lot of moments with faced paced riffs and really heavy, yet melodic moments of intense aggression. This aggression comes together with a more ambient, “drone” like sound you’d hear from a Deftones record. Combining the influences of melodic hardcore and sprinkling in a bit of this outside influence comes together really well throughout the EP.
