Guido Ruiz is a Chilean sax player and composer of jazz and fusion music. His work is heavily influenced by film scores, pop-rock and traditional songs from Latin America. Starting as a self-taught musician in the 90s, he then took lessons with some renowned jazz musician. He has recorded two albums as a leader, mainly with his own tunes, and plays regularly in local venues and jazz festivals in the south of his country. He has earned national and regional grants to develop his creative work. Besides its activity as composer and performer, Ruiz teaches pharmacology and jazz at the Universidad Austral de Chile in Valdivia, Chile.
