H3riQ, the piooner of NeoSoulMakossa

H3riQ (Pronounced Herik), is an innovative artist blending genres like Neo-Soul and Makossa with R&B. His music features rich lyricism in English and Duala language, showcasing his cultural roots.

He was born and raised in Douala (Cameroon) where he developed a passion for music at an early age. H3riQ began his career as a rapper before discovering his vocal abilities and training as a sound engineer to improve the quality of his music and produce himself.

H3riQ's music draws heavily from his influences in the areas of neo-soul, Blues, R&B, funk, Jazz and pop. His lyrics often explore introspective themes of love, relationships and self-discovery, accompanied by his soulful, emotive vocals. He derives inspiration from musical icons such as Musiq Soulchild, Usher, D'Angelo and Makossa classics.

In 2018, he released a series of demos under the name "NeoSoulMakossa" and gradually became known for his original fusion of cultural influences, R&B and the use of the duala language. In 2023, he presented his first studio project "Lambi", a 7-track EP that was well received by the public and earned him several nominations, including the Canal 2'Or for musical revelation of the year.

In addition to his musical career, H3riQ is also an advocate for the culture and revitalization of the Duala language. He uses his platform to raise awareness about the importance of promoting and teaching vernacular languages to young people.
