haapoja & illmari collective is a Finnish indie-folk-rap project consisting of composer/bowed lyre player Mikko H. Haapoja, rapper/lyricist illmari (Ilja Lehtinen), folk musician, singer Amanda Kauranne and keyboardist Lukas Kristo. The collective mixes various influences of Fenno-Ugric and related folk music traditions with contemporary electric sounds and electroacoustic soundscapes. Lyrically, influences are taken from both traditional Kalevala-contexts and Finnish hip-hop and spoken word poetry.
