Haav’s music invites the open-minded listener to experience something different. Through sampling and experimental sound design, Haav transforms field recordings, found sound, and instrument recordings into unique sonic landscapes and textures. His approach to the album 'Flyt' (Norwegian for flux, flow or float) is quite unconventional: the compositions are solely based on water-derived sound sources. Dripping and running water, snow and ice. Although the raw sound material is often heavily manipulated to the unrecognizable, he has also tried to capture situations where the water sounds could inspire to musical ideas, such as rhythmic patterns in rainfall, melodic patterns in brooks, or textures in water pipes and kitchen sinks. Like water, the music varies from dark and mysterious to bright and playful. From crisp atonal noise to lush ambient harmonies.
