Active from 2011-2017, <a href="spotify:artist:6rag1DtEh3ju1lNN9hflQT" data-name="Hail the Deceiver">Hail the Deceiver</a> were a Derby based 4-piece metalcore band. The group experienced several lineup changes before establishing regular gigging status in 2015, often playing on the local circuit and making a number of festival appearances.
This was followed by the recording of <a href="spotify:album:02koWl89ovVNRWfpLrWLnv" data-name="Origins">Origins</a> in late 2016. Produced by <a href="spotify:artist:7JYk8IiLbgxdGZp4QcAmdV" data-name="Harken">Harken</a> guitar player Danny Bligh, the EP took influence from bands such as <a href="spotify:artist:1Ffb6ejR6Fe5IamqA5oRUF" data-name="Bring Me The Horizon">Bring Me The Horizon</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0RqtSIYZmd4fiBKVFqyIqD" data-name="Thirty Seconds To Mars">Thirty Seconds To Mars</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6d24kC5fxHFOSEAmjQPPhc" data-name="Periphery">Periphery</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2CmaKO2zEGJ1NWpS1yfVGz" data-name="Falling In Reverse">Falling In Reverse</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6O7MpKrY91vlCd4Osi6XKs" data-name="Black Veil Brides">Black Veil Brides</a>. This is most evident with the band’s standout track <a href="spotify:track:2r0qXqSgLl42CAkU4boDs1" data-name="Sanctuary">Sanctuary</a>, with its mix of catchy hooks, technical guitar parts and powerful drums.
A video documenting the studio sessions was filmed and released on the band’s YouTube channel, giving fans access to some of the EP’s material before release and insight into the many bizarre and entertaining moments during recording.
Upon the debut EP's eventual release in August 2017, it was announced that the band was splitting as a result of newly acquired commitments and responsibilities.
