Haleek Maul

23yo MC, singer and producer Haleek Maul first surfaced aged just 16 with the critically acclaimed ‘Oxyconteen’, which showcased a rare talent, wise beyond his years.

Born in Brooklyn, NYC, he moved to Barbados as a child to attend school. Inspired by the sounds that filled his environment, he began creating music while in secondary school. What started as innocent mimicry of his favourite artists became an obsession which led him to pursue production and greater musical exploration.

Formative influences on his style include <a href="spotify:artist:2NUz5P42WqkxilbI8ocN76" data-name="Vybz Kartel">Vybz Kartel</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0O98jlCaPzvsoei6U5jfEL" data-name="Damon Albarn">Damon Albarn</a> , <a href="spotify:artist:6kBDZFXuLrZgHnvmPu9NsG" data-name="Aphex Twin">Aphex Twin</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6hhA8TKRNryM8FNzqCqdDO" data-name="Tricky">Tricky</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7K3zpFXBvPcvzhj7zlGJdO" data-name="Crystal Castles">Crystal Castles</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5K4W6rqBFWDnAN6FQUkS6x" data-name="Kanye West">Kanye West</a>.

In 2015 he collaborated with <a href="spotify:artist:2CgysNw5B7rFNRtRjQbPZ9" data-name="Ryan Hemsworth">Ryan Hemsworth</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0pkJMsTwKbRvrX9d4QEoAM" data-name="Supreme Cuts">Supreme Cuts</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0e53LR6d2xTKZz9om9ZGyO" data-name="Le1f">Le1f</a> and dropped the ‘Prince Midas’ mixtape, feat <a href="spotify:artist:11K0HIZKfdB6ez0VhIgxPm" data-name="Saul Williams">Saul Williams</a> and produced by <a href="spotify:artist:08k2TtlE1pYESgljfijLaI" data-name="Dubbel Dutch">Dubbel Dutch</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7aYP3zaSciq3o6g9eAXpmN" data-name="WIFE">WIFE</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2KpGANYR8s65QVps1eIvFg" data-name="Last Japan">Last Japan</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:647PD9VO8BRYqib1oRPDfA" data-name="Black Noi$e">Black Noi$e</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5HjQnwMVFnmEzrNS64EdrM" data-name="Cubby">Cubby</a> and Maul himself.

2019 single ‘Ceiling Fan’ (Prod. <a href="spotify:artist:52Fcsb7UXWSy0u3PNfcslb" data-name="P. Morris">P. Morris</a>), found him opening a new musical chapter. Channeling his multi-cultural background he alternates between technical raps and fleeting moments of Caribbean vocal rhythms. This was followed by the haunting ‘Halo’ featuring <a href="spotify:artist:1FvjvACFvko2Z91IvDljrx" data-name="Mick Jenkins">Mick Jenkins</a>, ‘Abyss’ featuring like minded NY maverick <a href="spotify:artist:5tLx2xpkiHdzvX9CIymCfR" data-name="Ro Ransom">Ro Ransom</a>, and the reflective ‘Lucid’ featuring Toronto’s <a href="spotify:artist:5dtbsNKCK6Q9yZzdhZpaqW" data-name="Sean Leon">Sean Leon</a>. These tracks offers an indication of the new sounds Haleek is exploring on his forthcoming debut album.
