Twenty-six-year-old singer/songwriter Haley Gold navigated her late teens and early twenties post-DAME, an all-star girl group managed by Shawn Stockman. Her debut EP, "Made You Cry," featuring hits like “Laughing in My Sleep” and “Cherry On Top,” marked a hiatus akin to a quarter-life crisis. Living across the pond in London in 2023, she penned songs for therapy and others, never anticipating more music.
A year later, she surprised herself with raw demos, citing them as "oddly natural" after stepping back for quite some time amidst heartbreak and lack of self confidence. Drawing inspiration from Julia Michaels, Miley Cyrus, Griff & Sabrina Carpenter, Haley intertwines her crises into compelling storytelling and melodies.
Reflecting on her unconventional hiatus, she shares, "I tried so hard to be someone I wasn't when seeing if “normal-no-music life” was meant for me, but it was actually the one thing I needed that made me the most… well, “me” if that makes sense. Returning felt right when the opportunity presented itself again."
Recording from her iPhone, she claimed to initially doubt releasing music in the future as staying behind the lights became more her speed but sometimes, you just have to tell the world what’s on your mind.
Remaining an "open book," she admits to learning and evolving post-debut. As she unveils unfiltered demo “Easier Said Than Done (Demo Version)” on February 9th, 2024.
