Hallgrimur has always had a broad musical appetite. His compositions range from soulful ballads to powerful rock founded in traditional pop, sometimes with a touch of reggae or country.
Hallgrímur is now embarking on a musical journey with an emphasis on diversity, and he aims to get several producers to work with him, flirting and fiddling with different musical styles, but it remains to be seen if this will end up as a whole "album" or just 3-4 individual songs.
Hallgrimur started playing the piano at a young age and played in pub/country ball bands in East Iceland. He started writing his own music at an early age and was one of the two main songwriters of the band EGLA, which released the album Maður er manns gaman in 1981.
Two songs by Hallgrímur are on SATT compilation albums that were released in 1984, but then nothing was heard from him until 2008 when the song Dreams was released, sung by the legend Pétur Kristjánsson.
In 2014, the old friends from EGLA, Hallgrímur and Ævar Agnarsson, joined forces again and released the disk Þyrnirós (Sleeping Beauty) as EGLA. In 2018 Hallgrimur participated in the Icelandic Eurovision Qualifier (Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins) with his song Óskin min (My Wish) and in 2021 he recreated the song Söknuður, from Maður er manns gaman, with the help of " idols" from the 1970s.
