Kristofer Hammarsten, professionally known as HAMMARSTEN, is a Swedish producer of electronic dance music. He’s mainly associated with a dark, driving and atmospheric style of Techno but likes to squeeze in some old-school House tracks from time to time. His music is mainly created with DJs and dance clubs in mind.
Kristofer was born in 1982 in Växjö, Sweden. He bought his first synthesizer at the age of sixteen and started to write electronic music without any previous knowledge. In 2005 he created the synthpop band, Liquid Core, together with a childhood friend. They released an album and EP and played some live shows before the project went on hold. In 2015 he started the journey with dance music by releasing some House remixes on SoundCloud and the year after he released his first tracks as HAMMARSTEN.
"I've listened to electronic music since I was eight years old. It started with cassette mixtapes that my brother gave to me at that age. I discovered bands like Depeche Mode, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, OMD, Kraftwerk, Human League, New Order etc. from these mixtapes and these artists had a huge impact on me. When I was fifteen, I heard Chemical Brothers and Prodigy for the first time, and I was totally blown away. This was also the time I started clubbing and my love for dance music was born.”
