Born and bred in the city of Pegaso, a humble district to the east of Madrid characterized by working class people and few resources, Spanish vocalist Hanna learned hard lessons of survival early in life. Called a "born artist" by fans nationwide, Hanna often credits her difficult, hard-edged upbringing with instilling in her the desire to sing and create. Without any instruction or training she began writing songs at a young age, penning dozens by her early teens. Preferring to keep to herself and write or sing, Influenced by the sounds of hip-hop, regeaeton, and the flamenco melodies she grew up with, Hanna sought to create a sound that reflected the streets she came from, a mix of modern urbanity and her rich Spanish heritage. Audiences were first introduced to this sound via her debut disc, released by Universal Music Spain, titled Pura Hanna. Following the record's release, Hanna appeared live throughout Spain alongside Universal labelmates like David Bisbal and Mala Rodriguez. Within the first weeks of its release, Pura Hanna showed up on charts nationwide, a promising debut for the 22-year-old singer and songwriter. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez, Rov
