Northeast Portland bedroom pop gourmand Harra's music is balanced by a sincere immediacy, like an Arthur Russell voice memo, and a driving palette of drowsy, precise and captivating electronic soft rock.
Raised by two professional psychics in the Redwood Empire corridor of Northern California, Harra founded the local imprint ACGS from 2002-2012, documenting the emerging rural DIY scene in the sparsely populated West Sonoma County.
His new single “Committee” channels the earnest leads of Donnie & Joe Emerson over a warm, Microsoft Songsmith-style countrypolitan backing track. A heartfelt tribute to a childhood friend, drowned under mysterious circumstances, the lyrics trace a decade of growing apart, crime, and declining mental health. Made in collaboration with longtime friends Richard Laws (The Saxophones, Hosannas) and Dean Tisthammer (Tisthammer)
Praise for Day Moon EP 🌝
"Songwriting that's ephemeral and evocative, yet extremely intimate and personal — the audio equivalent of a haunting, poignant lucid dream. 3-song EP that feels much deeper than its short runtime would suggest. Music that's simultaneously soothing and compelling." Dean Tisthammer, Bandcamp
"Short on length but heavy on impact, Portland musician Harra’s debut Day Moon EP is a sonically rich soundscape of moving, otherworldly dream pop, at moments recalling Jai Paul. Leaves you yearning for more, a great debut from an artist I can’t wait to hear more from." Dylan Dekay-Bemis, Endless Crate
