Producers Eddie Bezalel and Hugo Nicolson launched Headless Heroes in 2008, aiming to record a covers-only album with several handpicked musicians. Nicolson drew upon his Los Angeles connections to assemble a group of studio instrumentalists -- including Josh Klinghoffer, Woody Jackson, Joey Waronker, Leo Abrahams, and Gus Seyffert -- while Bezalel searched for a proper vocalist via MySpace, eventually choosing Alela Diane. Under the producers' supervision, the band recorded songs by the likes of Nick Cave, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Linda Perhacs, and the Gentle Soul. The finished product, The Silence of Love, was released in late 2008. ~ Andrew Leahey, Rovi
