Philadelphia Indie electronic artist Heart Dept. infuses his wistful and optimistic personality with sweet synth driven production that feels like sunbeams across your face when played. His quirky yet dreamy melodies dance through your ears and has been described by Philadelphia Photographer, E.F Evelhoch, as “Free, young and uninhibited by the world’s stress and commitments”. His music splits concrete as flowers sprout and dance to his lucid and nostalgic rhythms.
Like many of his peers, Heart Dept., started his musical career on Soundcloud; under the alias “mlvn” he began making a name for himself within the lo-fi hip hop community. His perseverance and creativity landed him on Inner Ocean Records BLESS Vol 1. Collaborative tape which donated all proceeds assist Syrian refugees. He continued his musical endeavors under the name “Heart Dept.” with the release of the song “in this corner” which blends John Lennons’ “Imagine” and the soundtrack of the nostalgic anime movie “In This Corner of the World”.
