Born to Swedish parents in Zurich, Switzerland, Helena Hallberg’s background is unique. Growing up speaking four languages, and immersed in Swedish folk music, American pop, and jazz, Hallberg weaves her multiculturalism into her work.
Originally a trained jazz vocalist, Hallberg soon found her love for American folk music. Her music is a unique blend of Folk, Jazz, and current musical trends, focusing on stories of mental health, empowerment, and multiculturalism. Her crystal-clear, versatile vocals carry melodies reminiscent of Scandinavian powerhouses like ABBA, while their roots lie in American folk icons like Joni Mitchell.
Rarely seen without her Appalachian dulcimer, Henrietta, Hallberg brings the instrument into the 21st century. The result is dreamy, evocative music that transports the listener into the depths of a Scandinavian pine forest.
