The most internationally popular Czech singer began her career in 1964 by winning the Hledáme nové zpěváky competition. She applied her talent not only on domestic stages, but drew attention to herself abroad as well, where she collected a number of important awards. She gave concerts on five continents and in almost all European countries. She performed twice at New York's Carnegie Hall. During her sixty-year career, she sang over 1,700 songs, many of which became hits. She has released over eighty solo albums, sold over 20 million music carriers worldwide. She recorded hundreds of TV shows and shone in several international and Czech musicals. She starred in the cult fairy tale Šíleně smutná princezna. She adds variety to her concert performances with tap dance numbers and playing musical instruments. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Academy of Popular Music in 2001 for her work in the field of popular music. In the same year, she became the Singer of the Year.
