Hell Average burst onto the Perth punk scene with their DIY single "Straight Outta Centrelink" which with enough votes alongside guitarist, Aidan's four hour live stream of 'All Star' on saxophone; got them into a local band competition. They went on to win that band competition and went on to support UK band GHOULS on the Perth show of their Australian Tour. They also used the prize money to record and release their first official single 'Cold Day In Hell' where they got to turn to their pop-punk roots and add the high production they were looking for.
With a member leaving mid 2018, Hell Average found themselves releasing their next single 'Charlie's Song' as a three piece. In late 2018 they found a new bassist, got put on the lineup for local all ages festival HYPERfest and played 12 promotional school shows for HYPER. They continued this run of shows into 2019. In May they released another single ‘A Quiet Place’ which received nationwide airplay on stations such as Triple J. They also supported metal mutant powerhouse RedHook when they played in Perth.
With the departure of their guitarist and drummer in late 2019 Hell Average postponed the release of their debut EP. In February 2020 remaining members Izzy Moroney and Callum Kemp released the 4 track EP 'A Quiet Place'. This was Hell Average final release as shortly after its release Izzy decided to hiatus the project until she felt ready to make music again.
