The solo production of Henna Emilia Hietamäki, who has been influential in the field of alternative music in several different bands, is inspired by the folk movement of the 1960s, meditative soundscapes, country music and the do-it-yourself attitude. The debut "Maja" (Soliti 2022), which was warmly received by the media, was a ruggedly beautiful theme album made in a small cabin, which Hietamäki recorded, mixed and played largely alone.
The sophmore album "Luutarha" (November 2024) is a collection of new interpretations of old folk songs and folk poetry. There are new translations and arrangements of American, English and Finnish songs from the 17th‒19th centuries, as well as new compositions for old Finnish-Carelian poems. The unifying theme is death, facing it or longing for it. Many of the songs on the album are made especially to be played at funerals.
