Henning Dampel (43) is a Jazz Pianist from Ulm, Germany.
He was 15 when he joined his first rock band, "Orange Carpet" - and played the drums there.
In his twenties, he played the drums in a New-Country Band - the "Silver Eagle Band" - for about 7 years, together with his father on bass guitar.
He continued learning to play the electric guitar and launched the funk rock band "Magnetic Monkeys" with first own compositions. In this band, Henning was the lead singer and (solo-) guitarist.
At the age of 30, his uncle Karl Spranger - an established pianist himself - gave him a book about jazz harmony as a gift for his birthday.
This brought him back to the piano and he practiced a lot using the information in the book and trying out the first jazz standards on jam sessions in the "Jazzkeller Sauschdall" in Ulm.
Few years later, he founded his first Jazz Trio with Peter Gruber (dr) and Uli Kuhn (b), followed by another Jazz Quartet called "Double Nelson".
Meanwhile the Jazz Duo "Sax kisses Piano" with Silvia Bleicher on saxophone was founded.
In 2019, the "Henning Dampel Trio" was founded with Andreas Schnell (b) and Lenny Rehm (dr), playing compositions written by Henning. Bernward Schäfer is playing drums since 2021.
Henning joined the Blues-Rock band "Six4Blues" in 2020 and plays mainly Hammond-Organ sounds. In this band, Henning also writes songs continuously together with his band mates.
