Her*Way was the first 2nd generation &#34;emo&#34; band in Memphis Tn from 1996-1998. The band was comprised of four 16 year old kids at the time. Two childhood best friends Luke Johnson and Ben Hardy along with mutual friends Josh Hicks and J.R. Wicker. They shared the stage with some of the more popular indie/ emo bands of that time such as <a href="spotify:artist:0MkAzpDHUZpuDnWGUII4RN" data-name="The Appleseed Cast">The Appleseed Cast</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:36gdsrHzKZ0Wyb3uH7ZbEv" data-name="Braid">Braid</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:54Bjxn26WsjfslQbNVtSCm" data-name="The Get Up Kids">The Get Up Kids</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3TLozbEZ8FWw1f0Y60hT6A" data-name="Compound Red">Compound Red</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5li5GfWFVl73vu7r2bGitu" data-name="The Promise Ring">The Promise Ring</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3oglFEsE6GvwwJFConxKa5" data-name="Tristeza">Tristeza</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:68VAZU2N3w7DMZDHMqkdX1" data-name="JEJUNE">JEJUNE</a>, and many more. Their lone self-titled record was recorded in a live setting at the heroin filled Cherry Park Studios in Memphis Tn. The record was mastered by now multi Grammy award winning mastering engineer Brad Blackwood. Herway disbanded in he summer of 1998 after Luke, their head songwriter, left for the United States Naval Academy.
