Hailing from the heart of the DMV, Big Zaddy Hev, also known as Hevewae, is a dynamic force in Christian rap, trap, rap soul, and hip-hop. Now based in Charlotte, NC, Hevewae brings a powerful, expressive style shaped by his roots, struggles, and unshakeable faith. Influenced early on by Go-Go legend Fat Rodney and Houston’s Scarface, Hev recorded his first track at just 14 with a member of the iconic band EU.
Hevewae made his debut as Hev-e-wae The Underground Beast with the release of his self-produced CD, Bammas Don’t Know. Since then, he's carved a unique path as a rapper, songwriter, hypeman, visionary, and entertainer. Despite being born hearing-impaired and mildly speech-impaired, Hev defied expectations and embraced his identity as a Special Ed artist with unmatched resilience.
A co-founder of the term “DMV” for the Greater Washington music scene (alongside 20Bello), Hevewae helped spark a movement still felt today. His inspirations span genres, from Chuck Brown and Billie Holiday to Redman and gospel music, fueling a versatile pen that writes across musical boundaries.
Through his indie imprint Ruffcore Ent Group and sub-label TMS Records, Hev continues pushing forward. His latest release, “Wurrd (Can I Get A),” is a bold testament to his journey, spirit, and refusal to be silenced. Big Zaddy Hev is not just a name; it’s a declaration of strength, vision, and unwavering passion.
