Heavenlight Issa Mtyaule, known professionally as HEVI, is a Tanzanian singer-songwriter and choreographer making her mark in the East African music scene.

Born on 4 October 2001 in Njombe, Tanzania, HEVI began singing and dancing in church at the age of eight. She also represented Tanzania in national and international volleyball competitions, including Umitashumta, Umisseta, FEASSA, the Nyerere Cup, the U-20 Women’s Volleyball AFCON, and the Tanzania Volleyball National League.

In 2019, she chose to pursue music and studied Music at Makumira University in Arusha from 2019 to 2022. Her sound blends Afrobeat, R&B, Afropop, Pop music, Rap and Bongo Flava.

HEVI released her debut single, “TRABAYE,” in 2023, followed by “ANOTHER YEAR,” “I FIND MY WAY,” “ONLY YOU,” “MY RIDER,” and “JAM.” In 2025, she released her debut five-track EP, “HEVI,” and was selected for the Apple Music Up Next East Africa campaign. Her music has also received recognition from Rolling Stone and Spotify Fresh Finds Africa.
