Sri Lanka’s biggest English Music export, Hibshi was the first Sri Lankan artist to cross a Million streams on Spotify with his breakthrough single, Cold Beer. A producer and songwriter for many years, Hibshi’s career began in the realm of Electronic-Pop music, combining colourful, dreamy production with visual storytelling with many of his early singles performing successfully across streaming platforms and local radio. Not long after the success of Cold Beer, Hibshi’s single ‘Missing U’ would become the second Sri Lankan-made single to surpass a Million streams on Spotify.
2021 saw Hibshi shift his focus as a singer-songwriter-producer. His English-flips of popular Sinhala songs carved out a niche in the Sri Lankan music sphere, creating a launch pad for a new sound intertwining English and Sinhala in a way that was never heard before.
