Born into the post-industrial decay of a small Appalachian city, Philip Boyd moved to Pittsburgh, PA in the late 1990s and helped form the synth/punk/garage band Modey Lemon (In The Red/Birdman/Mute Records). As Modey Lemon toured and gained a reputation for the raucous abandon of their albums and live shows, Boyd started performing as the softer-toned Hidden Twin as an exploration of duality. Originally focusing on low-fi folk recordings and eventually merging those concepts with loops and electronics, Hidden Twin has recorded and released 8 albums and eps since 2006. He has permanently relocated to the high desert of West Texas.
