Some say that they are louder than a jet engine. Others say that they are louder than a shotgun blast. Only those who have seen High Altitude Heretics live can confirm these to be facts.
With humble beginnings at North Metro TAFE, High Altitude Heretics were a storm waiting to happen. Once put together, they were deemed too powerful for a drummer to handle and after using up and spitting out many a contender, they finally settled with Perth’s answer to Dave Grohl – Lachie Standing.
On lead vocals and guitar is Connor Pitts-West or as he is better known, “TAFE’s answer to Devin Townsend”. Even Slash lives in fear of the Heretics’ frontman.
With guitar skills to match and a voice of his own, Dane Halliday takes his influence from Scandinavian and Finnish artists such as Alexi Laiho and Mikko Salovaara. We tried to speak to Dane, but his only words were “Kala on hyva”.
Finally, Ozzy Osbourne fears him, Geddy Lee is mostly confused by him and Geezer Butler cries out in anguish, whenever Sam Issac raises his bass to his mouth and tears at it with his teeth.
With a lineup like this, the whales will flee and you will never know what stabbed at thee.
“[Heretics] are the best band I’ve ever seen live, second only to Red Hot Chili Peppers” – Rechabite Hall Manager
“This band will freeze your knees. This band will make your bladder splatter” – Steve Hensby
