Boston-based guitarist John Kolodij began his High Aura'd project in 2009, and his droning soundscapes were released on cassette and CD-R by labels such as Stunned Records, Reverb Worship, and Sweat Lodge Guru. His first vinyl release, Sanguine Futures, appeared on Bathetic Records in 2012, and featured trumpet from Greg Kelley of Nmerpign and production by Type founder John Twells (aka Xela). A split 7" with Blood Bright Star followed in 2013, and the following year High Aura'd collaborated with Angel Olsen on the song "Red Rocks," which was released on I Blame Reaganomics, a compilation LP on Corleone Records. Following his relocation to Rhode Island, Kolodij recorded the Awake LP at his home studio in collaboration with Mike Shiflet, and Type released the album in 2015. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
