HIGHTS (formerly High Soundsystem) born as Rutger Heij, grew up in Dordrecht, a small town in the Netherlands, with his parents, brother, and sister. Influenced by Hip-Hop, Trance, Rock, and South American music, he began producing on the PlayStation with game called Music 2000, creating rhythm-driven tracks with African-inspired percussion.
His passion for House music was sparked by his uncle, DJ DARIK (Erik Damwijk). After his uncle’s untimely passing, Rutger chose to follow in his footsteps, learning to DJ with help from his cousin Dennis. He quickly made his way into clubs.
Nowadays Rutger is owner of two labels Obvious Records and High on Life, looking to push house driven sound.
