Forged from the politically destitute swamps of the great state of Florida, Highway Advisory Radio brings its own interpretation of Rock by mutating it with other genres that makes them hard to pinpoint what they identify as. Prog, Art Rock, Nu-Metal, R&B, Punk/Hardcore, Shoegaze, the list goes on and on and on. The sonic temple that HWY worships in does not see any reason why to limit where influences should come from, and has led to a special live experience that has led to a cult following of local Florida wackos supporting HWY's endeavors.
HWY was founded by Gordon Sloan (Guitar - Grandeur and the Delusions, Dagger) and Joseph Emminger (Drums) in 2019. Joshua Paul (Guitar - Nude Tayne), Andrew Wajek (Bass - Unkempt, Revel in the View), and Laith Abdel (Vocals - Nude Tayne, I And I, Throat Puncher) later joined the group and over the course of the next three years wrote material that would become their first album "Heavy Traffic." Joe left the group in 2022 and Josh left in 2023, but their contributions to "Heavy Traffic" were foundational to its eclectic sound. Currently the band runs as a 4-piece machine with drummer John Ostberg (Dove, House of Lightning) joining in late 2022.
