Highway Stars

Highway Stars was one of Sweden’s most booked and appreciated live band during the late 80’s and early 90’s. Famous of celebrating the whole expression of the 70’s – both in costumes and music.

”With this Corona thing going on, we thought it was time to cheer people up with some good stuff from the days back then, and picked two of our personal Christmas favourites” says Jerker Fendox, one of two lead singers in the band.

The new single ”A Christmas gift” includes two classic Christmas songs from the 70’s - the ska-disco ”Mary’s boy child” and the majestic ballad ”When a child was born”. Mary’s boy child was originally released by Harry Belafonte 1957, but Highway Stars version refers to Boney M’s hot ska-disco, released 1978. ”We wanted to capture the danceful joy of Boney M’s version and just added our personal Highway Stars party singature to it!” says Simon Fendox, singer. When a child was born, was released in a classic version by Johnny Mathis 1976 and reached the same year #1 on BBC Christmas charts. ”A pearl and a fanstastic Chrismas-hymn with a catching singalong melody. We revive it in this masterpiece. Bring in the Kleenex and keep your lighter ready” says Jerker Fendox, singer.
