Hiroe Sekine
A native of Japan and graduate of University of Sourthern California (USC) Thornton School of Music (Jazz Studies), Hiroe Sekine is a jazz pianist, vocalist, composer and arranger living in the Los Angeles area and performing at many venues. She performed with her own group at highly prestigious Jazz Concert Series at Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in 2014 and 2016, and again in 2019, with the entire two-hour performances of 2016 and 2019 including her interview broadcast on the nation-wide jazz station KJZZ 88.1FM. Her third album “One World One Sun” was released by Sony Music in 2017, and one of the tracks from the album, Japan-themed “Nippon Barre” was awarded FIRST PLACE by International Songwriting Competition in the jazz category in 2017. In 2020, “The Best of Hiroe Sekine” was released on October 28th by Dreamusic in Japan. On February 22, 2022, "Vous Allez Bien?", a three-song mini-album in collaboration with Cécile Corbel, a French singer-songwriter and harpist well known worldwide for "Arrietty's Song", the theme song of Studio Ghibli film "Arrietty the Borrower", was released. The album includes her jazz arrangement of "Arrietty's Song".
