HIVEMIND is the solo project of Dr Hamish Mackay, 29 year old songwriter from Melbourne, Australia.
HIVEMIND strives to be sonically unique, with tracks influenced by multiple genres, blending Progressive Rock, Art Rock, Progressive Metal, Ambient, Orchestral, Folk, Indie Rock, Video Game/Film Soundtrack Music.
HIVEMIND's musical journey started at age 9 with Clarinet, followed by Alto Saxophone at age 11. At 13, he began playing Electric Guitar. He wrote his first instrumental song at age 15, and started playing Bass Guitar at age 21 and incorporating Vocals in his music from age 22.
As the guitarist, bassist, lyricist and vocalist of HIVEMIND, Hamish also composes and arranges the keyboard, synthesizer, string orchestras and drum tracks using MIDI virtual instruments. He mixed, mastered and produced the HIVEMIND EP, Cataclysm and Blood of Heroes and continues to work on improving his music production skills.
When not writing and producing music, Hamish works as a Medical Doctor, enjoys photography, videography, running, bouldering and travelling the world.
