Always better dressed than rehearsed, Hog Mawl is the late, great honky-tonk side-project of Say ZuZu. As likely to be found performing in an unwashed bar in Maine as they were on a flatbed truck in a New Hampshire library parking lot, Hog Mawl's live shows blended the songs of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Lefty Frizzell with honky-tonk sendups of classic rock (e.g. if the Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin" was produced by Billy Sherill, or the Doors' "Riders on the Storm" was done by the Sons of the Pioneers). They also performed original songs by Cliff Murphy (vocals, guitar), Jon Nolan (vocals, pedal steel), and Kevin Guyer (vocals, bass) - with exuberant accompaniment from Bruce Derr (guitar), "Old Time" Dave Talmage (banjo) and Alison Magill (fiddle, vocals).
