Holcombe & Ashe is the unlikely duo you didn’t know country music needed—where raw storytelling, masterful instrumentation, and strong production collide.
This debut album marks Brady Ashe’s first foray into country music, stepping away from a decade of touring and producing in the alternative and psychedelic rock scene. Drawing on influences like Norman Blake and Brent Mason, Ashe crafts a rootsy sonic backdrop that’s both grounded in tradition and alive with fresh, contemporary energy.
At the heart of it all is Hunter Holcombe—a songwriter’s songwriter—whose raw, poetic lyrics explore flawed people and hard places with dark humor, metaphor, and emotional depth. His voice carries years of grit and grace, delivering stories of addiction, heartbreak, resilience, and blue-collar truth. With three solo releases under his belt and hundreds of songs written since 2019, Holcombe finds new life in this collaboration.
The album’s final magic touch comes from mix engineer Joe Sypula, known for their work in lo-fi, hip hop, and electronic music. Trading synths for fiddles, Sypula blends Ashe’s instrumentation with Holcombe’s unvarnished vocals in a genre leap that feels bold, seamless, and deeply human.
The result? A cohesive, vibrant soundscape that honors country’s roots while carving something entirely its own.
