Horse Party formed in September 2012 when singing guitarists Ellie Langley and Seymour Quigley met drummer Shannon Hope at Seymour’s ‘Washing Machine’ clubnights in their hometown of Bury St Edmunds. Initially assisted on bass by longtime producer George Perks (Mogwai, Enter Shikari, Public Image Limited, Pet Needs), Gaffa Tape Sandy bass hero Catherine Lindley-Neilson completed the band’s line-up in 2015.
Alongside a string of self-released singles and EPs, the band’s 2014 debut album ‘Cover Your Eyes’ (on Integrity Records, the original home of Frank Turner) and 2016 follow-up ‘Horizons’ (on legendary Swansea-based R*E*P*E*A*T Records) received critical acclaim, and enthusiastic radio support from from Marc Riley, Steve Lamacq and Lauren Laverne at 6music, Huw Stephens at Radio One and Radio X’s John Kennedy, and the amazing team at BBC Introducing in Norfolk and Suffolk.
An always-busy touring schedule saw the band supporting the likes of Slaves, Levellers, Dinosaur Pile-up, Basement Jaxx, The Nightingales, Jeffrey Lewis, The Duke Spirit, Shonen Knife, Ghostpoet, Dingus Khan and We Are The Physics, and bleeding onstage at Latitude, The Unorthodox Paradox, Norwich Sound & Vision and Beat-Herder festivals.
Following four breakneck years of near-constant gigging and recording, Horse Party took a break in 2017. Now they are back with a new single, ‘Admission’, out now via Toonteen Industries.
