HOSTIKKA

HOSTIKKA is a six-piece band from Finland playing new wave instrumental folk music.

The melodies painting the stories play with the beautiful characteristic of Nordic folk music. As a counterweight the comp section roars with abundant rhythms and harmonies daringly taking influences from different genres.

HOSTIKKA is the 2024 Kaustinen Folk Music Festival Showcase band and the compositions are made by double bassist Saija Hostikka and guitarist-producer Jaakko Penttilä. The band is based on Nordic folk music but combines styles from for example bluegrass and americana in their music.Our unique sound comes from when each musician brings their own story to the songs and with it creates color, living life and beauty in instrumental music.
